Our Director & Accompanist

Over the years CCCS has benefited from the talents of a variety of directors, each of whom have left a unique legacy. Their passion and devotion to choral music has left CCCS poised to continue to grow and prosper.

Since the fall of 2001, CCCS continues to be under the direction of Kevin A. Wekke, who attended Cecil County schools and later earned a B.A. in Piano Performance and an M.A. in Sacred Music. His graduate choral studies at Westminster Choir College included such notable choral directors as Robert Shaw, Joseph Flummerfelt, Robert Page, Sir David Wilcocks, and Madeleine Marshall. Mr. Wekke has led award-winning middle and high school choral groups, and performed in concert at the Lincoln Center in New York City.

In addition to directing CCCS, Mr. Wekke is organist at Shrewsbury Church in Kennedyville, Maryland, and has taught classes and seminars in sacred music for various organizations and churches. He has also composed and arranged several pieces performed by CCCS, including a dedication to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Capt. John Smith’s visit to Kent County, MD, recognizing the first recorded religious service in Maryland. He currently holds membership in the American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, the American Guild of Organists, ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), and the Hymn Society of America.

Eileen Brinkley, as a young child, began playing piano and took lessons for six years followed by five years of advanced study under Dr. Richard Allen.  Though being encouraged to pursue piano professionally at the concert level, her heart’s desire was to be an accompanist or collaborative pianist.  Later she took several years of study under Orlando Otey and a semester with Alistair Edmonstone.

In high school, she played for all school events and was the church pianist for Faith Baptist Church for many years, and has recently played for Cecil County Schools. Eileen has worked with Cathy Arce, Dr. Larry Stomberg, and several years with Dr. Joe Hocking.

In addition to performing as a flutist with the First State Symphonic Band, Eileen has accompanied Jonathan Wittman also. Eileen has accompanied numerous weddings, funerals, and graduations, etc.  Professionally, Eileen is a nurse.
